History

Founded at the beginning of the 1975 – 76 school years, East Stroudsburg Christian Academy was originally known as Pocono Christian School.

Three area churches came together to start Pocono Christian School – Calvary Bible Church, Portland Baptist Church and Hauser Ville Chapel (currently the Open Bible Church). We began with less than 15 students and were located in the Calvary Bible Church building.

As time went on Pocono Christian School became part of the ministry of the Calvary Bible Church, though in 1991 it became a separate entity and was renamed East Stroudsburg Christian Academy. We remained housed at Calvary Bible Church until the end of 2000 – 2001 school year.

In September of 2001, we relocated to the Pinebrook Bible Conference Center on Route 191 in East Stroudsburg, having outgrown the space available at Calvary Bible Church. East Stroudsburg Christian Academy now averages about 60 students from Pre-Schoolto 12th Grade.

Mission Statement

East Stroudsburg Christian Academy provides an academically challenging Christ centered education.  Studies at ESCA incorporate its Mission into every aspect of the curriculum.  For example, study of the American Revolution would explore the biblical references and texts that guided George Washington and the other revolutionary leaders.

The teachers of ESCA use innovative methods and materials to integrate the school’s mission into general academic studies.  Keeping the Christian philosophy as in integral part of the day-to-day curriculum is an essential tenant of ESCA’s program.

The school environment is an extension of the Christian home.  Children are educated academically, spiritually and culturally.  ESCA provides intellectual, spiritual, social, and physical experiences that help every student “increase in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. “  Luke 2:52

At ESCA, instruction is based on the Word of God.  The curriculum is designed to give every child a Biblical worldview of the place of God and man in the world.

The high student teacher ratio lets ESCA provide individualized instruction and textbook selection appropriate to the unique needs of each student.  Age appropriate biblical studies consistent with the school’s Statement of Faith begin in Pre-K and continue through 12th Grade.

Academic studies are enhanced with classes in art, music, and physical education.  An after school sports program, including basketball, is offered.

Teachers at ESCA accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.  They are dedicated to serving the Lord in the ministry of Christian education.  Parents and teachers are encouraged to work in partnership to make the best educational selections for each child.

East Stroudsburg Christian Academy is open to all regardless of race, color, sex, ethnic or national origin.
